Listed below are directions for setting file permissions and transfer types with a number of popular FTP Clients. Please note that for transfer types, the direction below are a guide to a list of "ASCII filetypes" to which the extensions "pl", "data", and "log" should be added.

1. Transfer Type: "Tools" > "Global Options" > "Transfer" > "ASCII Types"
2. Permission Setting: 'Right-click file' > "Properties / CHMOD"

SmartFTP (http://www.smartftp.com/)
1. Transfer Type: "Tools" > "Settings" > "ASCII / Binary"
2. Permission Setting: 'Right-click file' > "CHMOD"

WS_FTP (http://www.wsftp.com/)
1. Transfer Type: Click Transfer Mode Icon > "ASCII"
2. Permission Setting: 'Right-click file' > "Properties"
